Directorate of Reclamation & Probation

The Directorate of Reclamation & Probation, Sindh is an attached department of the Home Department, Government of Sindh, working towards the rehabilitation, reformation and social reintegration of offenders and released prisoners.

The Directorate plays an important role in the criminal justice and correctional system by supporting the effective implementation of probation and parole-related policies, supervising eligible persons placed under probation, and facilitating the rehabilitation and reintegration of individuals into society.

The Directorate aims to promote a balanced approach to criminal justice by encouraging reformation, rehabilitation and responsible reintegration, while ensuring compliance with applicable laws, rules and directions of the competent authorities.

Key Functions

• Administration and implementation of probation-related matters in Sindh.
• Supervision and monitoring of persons placed on probation under applicable law.
• Coordination with courts and relevant government departments regarding probation matters.
• Monitoring and implementation of parole-related policies and arrangements.
• Supporting the rehabilitation and reformation of offenders.
• Facilitating the social reintegration of released prisoners and eligible offenders.
• Maintaining relevant records and reports concerning probation and rehabilitation cases.
• Providing guidance and support to probationers to encourage lawful and productive participation in society.
• Coordination with prisons, courts, law-enforcement agencies and other relevant institutions.
• Promoting rehabilitation-oriented approaches within the criminal justice system.

Rehabilitation & Social Reintegration

The Directorate recognizes that effective rehabilitation can contribute to reducing reoffending and promoting safer communities. It therefore supports initiatives aimed at helping eligible offenders and released prisoners return to society as responsible and productive citizens.

Through coordination with relevant government institutions, welfare organizations and other stakeholders, the Directorate seeks to facilitate appropriate support, guidance and rehabilitation opportunities for persons under its supervision.
